COJ (Committee of Youth Organizations)
With the help of CEDRO, many of the youth groups in the shantytowns of Chorrillos (Lima) joined in 1998 so that they could speak with a single voice. COJ also serves as a space to exchange ideas and information, and to better understand the way that the world works. It has also made sure that youth groups arent stepping on each others toes.
Concretely, the COJ pressures local media to improve their coverage of young people, so that adults dont think that all kids are gangsters and crooks. They also work with NGOs and local governments to improve services for children and youth.
