El Caracol

In La Boquilla, several miles north of Cartagena, there is a community of street kids who have fled Cartagena -- either because of “social cleaning” or to beg from the tourists who travel to la Boquilla. El Caracol serves these kids with a drop-in center and a shelter.

Lack of staff means that El Caracol can keep the shelter open all day, but the drop-in center only in the evening. The drop in center sends kids to the shelter, where they can stay until they chose to return home.
