Casa Hogar San Pablo

Casa Hogar San Pablo is different from the majority of programs that collaborate in the Shine a light network. Though many of the children it serves lived on the street or were abandoned by their families, their problems are even more acute. The Casa Hogar serves children and youth that suffer from cerebral palsy, Down’s Syndrome, and other neurological problems.

Medicine and physical therapy are central at the Casa Hogar, which employs a large number of medical professionals. The Casa wants these disabled children to feel like they are an important part of society, so it teaches art and manual skills -- some graduates have even been able to find a job. The Casa also runs a school, though none of the children have a mental age of more than eight.

The Casa Hogar depends on individual donations (often donations of medicine), contracts with the government, and the Mexican telethon.

Casa Hogar San Pablo serves 78 children, its full capacity.
