Colegio de Jalisco

The Colegio de Jalisco is a post-graduate educational institution dedicated to the history and culture of the state of Jalisco (home of Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta, among other famous cities). Its large endowment, derived from from local, state, and federal governments, allows the Colegio to employ almost 20 professors and researchers. The Colegio publishes books, sponsors speeches, and trains the next generation of researchers.

In the last half dozen years, two young scholars have taken advantage of the Colegio’s resources to investigate youth homelessness. Ricardo Fletes uses methods developed in Brasil to study the lives of street kids, while Rogelio Mariscal studies teen gangs.

Write to the Colegio to buy three highly recommended texts: La Infancia Abandonada, El Otro Vallarta, and Issue #28 of Estudios Jalisiences.
