Creando Expectativas (Creating expectations)

This is yet another program coordinated by the Universidad Santo Tomás. University students work inside public and vocational schools in the poor community of Pudahuel with 13-14 year olds at risk of homelessness. They teach the kids how to re-think their futures and how to plan a life project. Afterwards, working one on one with their mentors, they look at what they will need -- from school, from their families -- in order to realize these dreams.

The program has been quite successful in preventing youth homelessness and reducing drop-out rates.
