Volunteering with Juventud con una Misión

"All of our staff are volunteers. Your living costs will be determined by your length of stay, but figure $500 US ($800 for couples) per month as a minimum.

You can work with us for up to six months without doing a DTS (a YWAM training school).

Streetkids is a multi phase ministry and there are many opportunites for service. Of course language is a consideration and if your Spanish is limited you would at first be limited to working at the farm, the Restored Heritage. This is our permanent 24 hour care facility and many of the children speak, or at least understand, English. You could be involved in their care while you study Spanish. Aside from care giving, (which is always a challenge with energetic kids like ours) if you have technical or office skills, you could help out with office duties. Essentially your service will be defined by the skill that you have. For me, for example, my service has been defined by my computer and writing skills so I handle the ministry computers as well as newsletters etc.. Just having an artistic touch could mean teaching dramas to the kids or helping to decorate a house. If you are gifted as a teacher you could be teaching in our school in a short time. Who knows? We each have our unique giftings and call from God.

Working in our ministry is (at the same time) rewarding, heart breaking and never boring. You are helping to change and form lives. Of all that we teach these children nothing is more important than the love of the Father that we show and nothing more fulfilling than hugs that we give and receive.
