Volunteering with Melel Xojobal

In order to read an essay on the history and services of Melel, click here. The program has asked Shine a light to find volunteers with the following characteristics:

Skills: Child care workers. Street educators. Business administrators and consultants.

Length of Service: Three months or more.

Language: Must be good, but not necessarily fluent.

Age and Education: Must be at least 18 years old.

Personal characteristics: Openness to cultural difference. Ability to deal with the tragedy of small children living on the street. A sense of humor.
