Mala Shah, Shine a light fellow

Mala Shah graduated from Wellesley College in 1998 with a degree in Latin American Studies. While at Wellesley, Mala received a fellowship to work with a Women’s Community Development organization in Costa Rica. While there she designed and held workshops for the community on domestic violence awareness and also educated elementary school children about the dangers of tobacco. Upon graduating from Wellesley Ms. Shah earned a Masters degree in Latin American Studies from Tulane University, where she had the opportunity to work and study in Brazil, Cuba, Guatemala, and Mexico. Ms. Shah’s interest in Latin America and concern for the health and welfare of underserved populations led her to earn a Masters degree in Global Health from the Yale University School of Epidemiology and Public Health. Mala has a broad interest in health promotion and has most recently focused her work on adolescent health issues. Additionally, Mala is interested in HIV/AIDS in Cuba and designed a media based intervention and awareness campaign.
