Shine-a-Light Fellows Project

Over the last four years, Shine a light has funded, placed, and supported many Fellows to work with street child organizations. In addition to helping these agencies with persistent staffing problems, these fellows -- largely graduate students in medicine, business, and social work -- teach new techniques Shine a light has learned from throughout Latin America and learn the skills SAL will later convey to other organizations. In coming years, each Fellow will take a laptop computer with h/er, train local staff in Internet research and communication, and donate the hardware at the end of h/er fellowship. In the past, SAL Fellows have founded an agency servicing 130 children, managed an orphanage, and provided medical care for hundreds of street children.
