“The most beautiful view in the city…”

Many times, organizations and people who work fro social change emphasize the suffering of the people they serve. It can be a useful way to raise money… but it leaves out much of the life of people who live on the margins.

Shine a Light and its Brazilian partner Usina da Imaginação funded an amazing art and social change project in the favela (slum) of Mocotó in the southern Brazilian City of Florianópolis. The project used art, photography, and video so that kids from the favela could see the beauty and drama in the favele where they lived… that is has the “most beautiful view in the city.”
